Sunday 12th September – bike **** – Around Felixstowe including lunch at Levington Marina– sunny periods.

Were keen to get out on the bikes today, a bit late for a breakfast ride so packed lunch and headed out at midday. Although mainly cloudy with the odd glimpse of sun the wind continues to be light it was perfect cycling weather as we took our favourite tree lined foot path to Levington Marina, stopping along the way to feed the Rudd again, the shoal is huge, just can’t believe the herons have not discovered this little pond! A few swans and geese on Loompit Lake and head for the bench in the windsurf launch area by the marina entrance to enjoy our lunch. The only downside being the breeze which funnels up the river, nearly enough to foil, much windier here than on the seafront! We were entertained by passing waders and a little grebe in the river. Being a little chilly we set off again taking the inland route stopping off to pick yet another tub of blackberries and spot a Red Kite, still a fairly rare sight here in Suffolk! Back along Candlet Lane, through the Grove woods and back along the cliff top just for a quick look at the sea!
